Roadmap

Definition and scope
Non-profit organizations struggle with low budgets in keeping up with technology and training. Can open source software and distributed learning spaces (individual web hosting accounts) help? We will test here the latest beta release of Drupal, a content management system, and especially one of its contributed modules, CiviCRM, a constituent relationship management system.
Timeline
We will test Drupal 5.2 beta and CiviCRM 1.6 for the length of their beta releases and will upgrade to the stable releases when they come around. The longevity of this testing project will depend, in part, on the learning experiences of participants. It is the goal of this project that participants learn enough to go on to build their own projects.
Roles and requirements
Participants will assume roles depending on the function they want to explore, their level of expertise, and how much time they can invest in the project. A participant can administer one or more modules or just opt to contribute content via forums, blogs, pages, stories, or comments.
Action plan

  • Gather user scenarios/personas.
  • Identify and try out modules/features that will apply to certain scenarios.
  • Document learning experiences (including adding to reference guides and contributing to forums/documentations at Drupal.org and CiviCRM.org).
  • Archive learning experiences and move to a more stable home for the benefit of all.
